Serving the Jefferson City Area for over 30 years
Central Baptist Church was established in 1987. Since then, it has been a gospel lighthouse in the Jefferson City area. As an Independent Baptist Church, Central Baptist puts a strong emphasis on the preaching of the Word of God, the edifying of the Christian, and the reaching of lost souls for Christ.
Ted Huston was the first Pastor of Central Baptist Church where he served for 26 years until God called him into evangelism. In the summer of 2013, God called Andy Schmidt to be the second Pastor. Under his leadership the church continues to grow and move forward in reaching the community for Christ.
Meet Our Pastor
It is my privilege to be the Pastor at Central Baptist Church. I am excited that God has called me to preach the gospel and serve as a full-time Pastor. My wife, Michelle, and I have been married for more than 20 years and the Lord has blessed us with our son, Andrew. With God’s blessing and a clear vision, I praise the Lord that He continues to work and bless our Church. It is an honor to work with such a great group of Christian families, and we would welcome you to join us.

Our Beliefs & Values
Here are some of the basic things we believe.
The Bible
There is the Holy Scriptures that are the Old and New Testaments which is the very Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts and therefore wholly without error. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21
The Godhead
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. He is eternal creator, sovereign, perfect and infinite in knowledge,
love and power. Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, II Corinthians 13:14
There is the Lord Jesus Christ who is God the Son, becoming man by the miracle of the Virgin Birth, living without sin, as the perfect Lamb of God. He gave Himself in death upon the cross, suffering the full penalty of divine wrath in our stead, then arose bodily from the grave and later ascended to heaven, appearing before God as our Advocate and Intercessor. John 3:16
Salvation
There is salvation by grace through faith, which is a free gift of God, neither merited nor secured in part or in whole by any virtue, work, or religion of man, but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10
Ordinances
There are two ordinances given to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of believers, thus identifying them before man as true believers, and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the supreme price Christ paid at Calvary. Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2: 41-42, I Corinthians 11:23-26
Eternity
There is eternal judgment meaning that the spirits of true believers at death go immediately to be with Christ in Heaven, that their works shall be brought before the Judgment Seat of Christ for the determination of rewards, and that the spirits of the unsaved at death descend immediately into Hell until the final day of judgment and everlasting punishment. Revelation 20:11-15, I Corinthians 3:12-15
